“ A FAMINE OF THE WORD OF GOD “

A closer look at The Words of: “ Amos…” Amos 8:11-12 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it. Here is a token of GOD’S highest displeasure. At any time, and maybe more so, in a (time of trouble), a famine of the word of GOD is a very heavy judgment. For many - this is ‘seemingly’ no big deal. Yet, many will feel it very much -- and will travel far to hear a good sermon. They will feel the loss of the mercies others so foolishly in sin, have or will push away. The most amiable and zealous would or will perish, For the want of the water of life, Which ( only ) CHRIST can bestow. Let us ‘value’ our advantages, seek to profit by them, (through proclaiming the Gospel) to all, So we don’t (have to) fear sinning them away. Amos chapter 8:8-12

8Shall not the land tremble for this, and every one mourn that dwelleth therein? and it shall rise up wholly as a flood; and it shall be cast out and drowned, as by the flood of Egypt. 9And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord GOD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day: 10And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning of an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day. 11Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: 12And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it. "The words (scripture) of the LORD" - which come [from] HIM, and are concerning HIM; the doctrines of grace [are] contained in them, the wholesome words of CHRIST: hearing them signifies the preaching of them, by which hearing comes, (‘believing’) and is a great blessing, which should be attended to, as being the means of conversion, regeneration's, the knowledge of CHRIST, faith in HIM, and the joy of [ it. ] YET Now, (to be deprived of) - - hearing the Gospel, which [is] spiritual famine, for those ‘words’ of GOD (are) food, bread, meat, milk, honey, yea, they are a feast. They are what sustains us. It is food that is savory, wholesome, nourishing. They are satisfying, strengthening, and comforting and loving. But.. When the Holy Words of GOD are removed, (as a famine)- or when a church state is dissolved, when Ministers are ordered to preach [no more] - in such a place, or are scattered by persecution, or removed by death, and (none raised up) in their stead; or when error prevails, to the [suppressing] of [truth]: all which is done, or suffered to be done, for (indifference) to the Word of GOD, unfruitfulness under it, and contempt of it, and, opposition to it; (which is a dreadful case), when such a famine is come and light of a nation, are gone -- The bread for their souls, ( which [is] The Word ) The ‘people’ in a (word): “die”- for lack of Holy Scripture. (Isaiah 53:1); Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? This IS a question. And the question is, and can be answered thus: Who hath believed our report? Well… We have, for one. And to whom has this been revealed? (( “US” again. )) What IS our duty, Church? Let’s go to Mark & Matthew... Mark 16:15 “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Matthew Chapter 28

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen. JESUS CHRIST gave His Church- this body of spiritually transformed believers a responsibility to carry out. The Church’s [mission] is (to preach the gospel) of the Kingdom of GOD and make disciples throughout the world, teaching them exactly what JESUS taught. -Mark 16:15; -Matthew 24:14; -Matthew 28:19-20. The Church plays many roles in bringing salvation to the world. The work of the Church continues; it did not cease when the original disciples died. the Church’s mission has passed to each generation of GOD’S people. It stands as the light of the world (Matthew 5:14). It is the household or family of GOD (Ephesians 2:19; 1 Peter 4:17, ). It is the mother who nurtures GOD’S sons and daughters (Galatians 4:26). It functions as the “pillar and ground of the truth” in a spiritually confused world, (1 Timothy 3:15) JESUS promised to be with HIS followers as they accomplish this work [until] HE returns at the end of the age.

Let us continue and Complete our mission. GOD Bless.
